What oil should I use in the trans/overdive

I'm not sure what I should use in my 61 ah 3000 or how much I'll need to refill the trans/overdrive. Redline MT 90 gear oil was suggested. What do you think ?
 
Hey Donny,
I've had the same question and had quite a few fellow Healey nuts recommend straight 30 weight NON detergent oil. The non detergent does not have any additives in it that can damage some of the brass parts and pieces in your tranny or O/D.

Manual recommends a 20-40 or 20-50, would not get caught up in the detergent, nondetergent issues, in terms of things that oil impacts,these are very robust cars so within broad bounds, whatever is to the characteristics of the year of manufacture will be just fine, they went on that stuff for a lifetime and for the classic driving use, functionally forever.

Use Valvoline VR1 50 or 60 weight and you will not encounter the problems produced by modern oils.--Fwiw---Keoke

Someone suggested that I should run some "SEAFOAM" in the trans/OD for a few miles before I drain the old fluid out to give it a good cleaning. Any thoughts about that idea?
 
I'm not sure what sea foam would do in/for a transmission. I run it through older engines from time to time and it does a good job cleaning out the upper end of the engine, but there's a whole bunch of combustion involved there.
 
Heading into warmer weather in Florida, any success in the Sothern climates with the below recommendation? Glad to try anything that stops a leak or two and allows pressure to build better.
