What kinda Lotus is this?

hey guys,
I had to ask, what kinda Lotus is this? I spotted it at a local British car show here in Toronto. Is it a kit of a vintage racer? Or a real Lotus?

British Car Day this past September in Oakville? Don't recall seeing that particular car there. In case you're wondering I just moved back to Alberta from Barrie, and know the British car show circuit in Ontario quite well.

Anyway looks to be a Lotus Eleven or a kit version of it, I know of one guy in near Kitchener who has a white Westfield Eleven (modern version of a Lotus Eleven) but unless he's repainted his car this is a different one.

The overall quality of the car leads me to think it's a kit, it's a shame really it could be finished off a little nicer. It was at the Oakville show, I watched it pull in late, around 3pm. I live just outside of Hamilton, welcome back to Ontario

It is a Lotus 11. It is most likely a replica which is made by Westfield. They are great cars and pretty much a 7 under the skin. They are very aerodynamic and can scoot right along with a BMC A motor, which most of them have.

Most I have seen have the optional headrest/tail fin like a D-Type.

I love them.

Champion Motor Sports also makes Eleven replicas based on Locost chassis.

PC,

How long ago was that R&T article about the Lotus Eleven ? I have every issue since '66.

There's an interesting comment above that implies that Lotus Elevens are Sevens under the skin.
I apologise if that was in reference only to Westfields, but I have heard it said and seen it written elsewhere when it definitely applied to Lotus.
Which is interesting, because of course, despite the numbering, the Eleven preceded the Seven. The Seven was more like an Eleven without the skin, if you see what I mean. I well remember seeing the prototype Ed Lewis car in 1957 with de Dion rear and wishbone front, Climax engine, etc. Brunton Hillclimb I think it was.

Its true, the 11 was before the 7. I made the comment because more people are familliar with the 7 architecture. Like the 7, the 11 was produced with quite a few variations. The Westfield is pretty much the Clubman, which had a solid axel, and I believe upper & lower trailing arms and a panhard rod in back.

I have seen some real 11's and quite a few Westfield 11's at Lotus Clob track days at PIR.

There is an 11 that shows up which has a glass body which the owner says is a Lotus, and not a replica. I thought all real 11's had aluminum bodies.
