Would anyone know what the circled brass fitting is used for on my distributor? (100-6):

Figured it was better to ask the experts then to play around with it to find out!

Thanks!
Chet

It's a grease cup. I don't recall the factory intervals (Mallory here), but it is filled with grease and you occasionally turn it in a turn or so to grease the shaft inside.

I believe that is the device to lubicate your distributor shaft. You turn it in 1/2 turn or so an it injects grease into the shaft, usually at the time you do an oil change. Every 10 years or so, you unscrew it all the way off and refill it with grease and put it back on.

That's the Distributor shaft lubricator. Give one full turn every 3000 Miles. Refill every 12000 miles. (according to the owners handbook)
