You used to get a small packet of grease to apply to the dist rotor back in the day.:tennis: Haven't seen the fiber thing before!
 
I think it is supposed to soak up and retain some oil to lubricate the points
 
They used to put a little thing of grease in the box too. Don't know if they still do. Tom
