Have been trying to sell my 71 for about the last 2 years. Finally sick and tired of tire kickers and beat-down artists, I decided to take it to auction and test the market in a very real way.
Last friday was the big day,we were at the auction in Branson Mo. and the car had never looked better. The fresh interior,OD, Tri-carbs and restoration pictures on display drew a fair amount of attention.
Finally it was up on the block and my ol girl was getting bid on! After a minute or so it reached the reserve price I had set and the bidding assistant gave the sign-off papers to initial. The bidders could see the car was going to sell, and the bidding took off!!I was stunned, the hammer dropped at 150% of the reserve price!!
Of course the 8% sellers premium had to be taken out,but it had done very nicely given the current market.
This was my first time to sell at an auction, but it may NOT be the last. The people at Branson were great, have a fine organization, and took care of little things that mean a lot for a very reasonable fee.

So if you are willing to let us know, what was the sell price, but it is OK if you are not. It just gives us more information about the post and your success.

The price was 18k.You may feel sorry for me now, down to 2 tr4's, and a tr3a The plan is to take out the( naturally aspirated) tr4 motor(155hp) and put it into the tr3 with a super charger......since its a 9.0/1 comp ratio, which should get close to the 200hp number.I will put it up on the dyno when its done and let you all know. The 3 will also get a supra 5spd and a toyota rear diff. The tr4 will get the original motor back so the wife will enjoy driving it again(she hates big cams)

18k is a decent price to get for a well sorted out TR6. TR6 prices are going up, at least for the good ones.

Isn't 9.0:1 a bit high for a supercharged engine? I'd be worried about early detonation. Though I suppose a thicker gasket could lower it some if that was a problem.

My CR is a bit over that (9.25:1), and so far I don't detect any problems. Moss says that you should OK up to 9.5:1 and 5 psi of boost.

I wouldn't worry as much about the CR as I would about putting a supercharger on an engine with a lumpy cam. They don't do well with uprated naturally aspirated camshafts, they produce more power with a stock type camshaft. There are also cam grinds out there designed specifically for supercharging.

Yes, you don't want a lot of overlap. If you have too much, the supercharger just pushes the fuel right through the cylinder and out the exhaust.

Toyota rear differential in a TR3? Why?

Toyota diff wont spit out the pinion gear, like a tr will at 200hp(been there done that..)Good point on the camshaft,I will check the specs&chat with the guru.
