My first major restoration of a Brit car was an MG TC which took me 20 years !!!!!!!!!!! I know, how can something as simple as a TC take 20 years ? But that's another whole story. As to this subject - when I first started on it my wife who was a flight attendant for Delta would lovingly ask me as she left for a trip on the weekends " are you going to be working on the TC this weekend ?" This lasted for maybe first 5 years. Second five years or so she would ask "are you going to be working on MG ?" as she left on a trip. By the time I got to 10 years and beyond, it was simply "are you going to be working on that car ?". You can see the downward progression of her affection for my project. Unfortunately, by the time I was in the back stretch on the 20 year project, maybe last 5 years, and she would be leaving on a trip ( by now could be during the week as she had seniority ) it was no longer "working on the TC, or MG or that car, but had culminated to "that piece of ........" and I will leave it at that so Reid doesn't have to censor me ! So although the TC never had that name as an official name, it will always be known as that in this household. Fortunately, the 100M has fared better. She simply refers to it as "that car" or "his mistress".
