what gives /oil leak

Well here is my dilemma; it is so minor I do not know if it is worth chasing.
Car runs great no problems. So here the deal I can be sitting with it running forever and it won’t leak a drop of oil I know impossible. However, when I shut it down it leaks a spot the size of a quarter out the front crank seal (948 with newer style seal not the rope) it also has the can style vent in the rocker chest cover just open no hose to it. No road tube. Why does it do this? Could it be there is crank case pressure shortly when it shuts off? This is the only leak on the car and it has done this since rebuild years ago. Should I just leave it and be thankful? I’m just confused as to why only when it shuts off. When I put Rivergate kit in I bought a new seal and front cover gasket. Refit it all exactly the same results crankshaft showed no ridge or bad spots and seal looked good .
 
Check the front engine plate, if it is bent near the bottom of the timing cover, the oil will leak out after it drips down to the bottom.
I had this drive me crazy last year on my daughter's bugeye and a fresh rebuild.
Everything new but the leak was BEHIND the timing cover below the seal where it met the front plate. Just a slight bend not noticeable unless you are looking for it after you have it in your hands and have an eyeball on it.
 
Well there ya go if it is the front plate I'm not pulling the motor for minor incontinence. But why only when its just shut off 2 three drips Bizarre
 
Dude, it's English, it HAS to leak. It leaks to let everyone know you didn't put another type of engine in it.
 
Oh I am fully aware its suppose to leak I'm just curious as to why?
I do not have a problem leaving my marks everywhere like my Jack Russell terrier with him I know why.
It has all to do with big dog trapped in a 18 lb body. However, the Bugeye why only when stopped. Hmm I may have answered my on question...metaphorically
 
there wasn't a "no leak" option from the factory. The only time mine doesn't leak is when it's not running.....and I'm not really sure about that.

It leaks for the same reason it smiles, it has to... :jester:
 
Bugsy leaves 5 quarter sized spots every time he stops. Something about wanting to mark his spot. I tried to fix once but discovered that the oil pan is somehow absolutely glued to the engine block. After all bolts off and BF Rubber hammer didn't dislodge I said going further will likely make it worse. My solution, several large sheets of cardboard on the floor of the garage. Not elegant but it fixed the problem for now. I'm also considerate of where I park.
