What food does your Mama make better than anyone?

Anything Italian, but particularly ravioli and lasagna.

My mum is gone now, but she made horrible, watery, soupy chili and overcooked any & all rice. I didn't know what either one ~should~ be like until I was on my own.
 
Potato kugel and other traditional Jewish dishes.
 
Latkes
 
My mom makes the best meatloaf.
 
Somehow it just seemed like everything was better.

When she was alive, she made the best chicken fried steak in the world!

And her donuts were fantastic. Simple cake donuts flavored with nutmeg and mace, deep fat fried. Drool ...
 
Seeing the foods you guys have mentioned I can remember having many different types of food growing up, including all of the above (not counting the cannibalism thing, gotta draw th' line someplace!). Had friends from many different backgrounds, usually with first or second gen American born parents. The area's steel mills attracted 'em from everyplace. Often got invited to have a meal with them, learned early I was fairly much omnivorous! Try anything once. Never found anything I'd refuse a second time, back then. The ethnic staples were always favorites; "peasant fare", the foods that kept people going. Potato kugel, latke, potato pancakes, pierogie, strudle, scrapple, collard greens...

...gotta clean th' drool offin the keys now!
