What does this steering wheel go to?

Have you considered any of the older Brits, like Hillmans, or Wolsleys, Rileys etc, the stuff you normally would not run across at the shows?
 
I have looked at as many as those cars as I can find online. No wheel as such.

I still say it smacks of a Triumph. I wonder if Triumph made wheels for someone else of someone else for Triumph?

Seems we all are assuming it is English.

If it is English here is a site with most if not all the older manufacturers. Should only take a few years to wade through them searching out each car to find this wheel

Would those searching agree that because of the diameter, it is probably 1940's to early 1950's and it is most likely English?
 
I hope somebody solves this soon. I've spent far too many hours on the web looking at pics of steering wheels.
 
WOW. after another hour wasted..... hehehe
Google Jowett Jupiter steering wheel. Or Farina steering wheel. That's the closest I've come. It's still not a perfect match, but It may be from an earlier model that I cant find an image of.
the Farina 109 is from a later Jupiter. I havent found an earlier pic, or one for a Jowett Javlin.

But not an exact match huh? Do you have pics of the "close" wheel?

And on this page if you scroll down there are pics of the Farina wheel. that's the one I spotted before.

But all of them look like the upper spokes come off a bit to straight. I'm still looking for a better shot of the earlier wheel.

Crud!!! no. That one has 5 spokes on the upper arms. yours is only 4
I was sooooo close.
 
BUT - that Volvo has the same style as the mystery wheel so maybe it is not English and maybe it is another model or year Volvo.

That Jowett sure looks like a possibility. I have a picture of a Jowett Javelin and definitely not but that one is a Jupiter.

The Jowett & Volvo wheels are both 5 across 3 down. The mystery wheel is 4 across & 3 down. You guys are good and I am not up on the older other makes of cars other than MG. Could it be a much older MG? I tend not to think so and am thinking that it might be another make.
 
There was mention of the steering wheel on the Volvo P444 being upgraded in 51 on one of the sites. The pic I found is from a late 50s. I have not been able to find an early car pic. I wonder if the upgrade was the added spokes on the sides for stiffness?
Still looking.
