What do you think of this Midget?

hmmm... not really.

Maybe I will take some measurements of the bubble on the hood of my C and see if it will cover the hole. If so it might be easy enough to make a casting and then pour in some resin or 'some kind of media'.

I'm really impressed that there is that much "stretch" in a Spritget hood. Nice metalwork!

Yeah, that Sprite made me drool...

Oh man, now look at da keyboarg dfes.* hewncc ...

Whew, had to hit it with the blow dryer there - almost lost it!!

So, after driving it to work & back all week & using up a whole 3 to 4 gallons of gas ( when driving my van the same would have cost me about 13 gallons ) I have some experience out on the freeway with the likes of dump trucks, semi's and other drivers in their climate controlled luxury vehicles.

This Midget is a lot more like driving a motorcycle than anything else. I really do feel like I'm right out there with the elements. Kinda scary, kinda exhilarating and definitely fun.

I almost bought some McGuires for the top, but then I saw the 303, but then I saw there was 303 cleaner & 303 protectant. I guess it needs to be cleaned before the protecting?

I got a muffler that I will attach as soon as it's dry enough to work outside. The one on there has holes in it.

Why the two muffler system anyway? When replacing do you all replace both or just hook up one or what? Where do you get a direct replacement muffler?

I got my Lucas brake light switch in the mail today!
It was interesting deconstructing the funky workaround (jerry rig) done by the PO in order to figure out what had happened to the original wiring and then get it connected up to the new switch. After a little deductive reasoning I found & connected everything, adjusted the switch & WahLah: Brake lights!!

The PO had wired up a momentary switch via wiring that came into the cockpit via the glove box. "When you want to stop, push the button." Not the best, safest, mose road worthy aspect of the vehicle. First thing I ordered / received / installed.

Next, new muffler (tomorrow if weather permits). Afterwards, new headlight switch (when it arrives at the mailbox). WooHoo!

Not knowing when the oil was last changed I am sure I ought to do that - again, tomorrow if weather permits. It could use new plugs & cap & rotor. Little stuff that might make a difference.

Well I got a muffler adapted to it today. It's no longer the beast from heck. It sounds civilized.
I also put a toggle switch on the lighting wires. The PO had wires there which were to be put together with a wire nut when you want your headlights on. I've ordered a new headlamp switch, but until then I hooked up a toggle.
I don't know if it was that or if it was hooking up the brake lights properly, but now the inside light comes on when I open the door. How luxurious!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

As for the hood, here is another idea:

Sorry, couldn't resist!

while I can't top Tony's graphic prowess /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif the other day I saw a celica with a side scoop about there - looked pretty sharp

Heh, Tony - makes it pretty hard to see the road but hey, who's gotta see the road when you got a cool thing like that on the hood??

Well this morning I had a bit of a scare.

I was moving over to the offramp while driving to work, the sun was just up at the right angle to make it practically useless to look over to the right. When I was mere inches from the car that was occupying that lane I finally saw it and moved left. They slowed & went around behind me. I felt like a total monkeys ass.

Just thought I'd share...

I have almost that exact experience in my truck frequently. I can't see people who drive on my left roughly even with my bed.

I try to remember those times for when I see someone else doing something like that. Makes it easier to forgive.

Get one of those concave stick on mirror thingees from autozone, now you see it all. come in small size.

Jack, I like that idea - maybe I'll run over there at lunchtime. Thanks!
