What could possible go wrong?

That really does look handy. I can put stuff on the rack of my Explorer but I have a heck of a time tying it down.
 
Maybe get a pair of wheel chocks to go with it? Install the chocks when you mount the step; then hopefully the resistance of the chocks will remind you if you start to move the truck.
 
I have one of these. I used it a bit at first. I kept forgetting to remove it when done. Otherwise not bad. Now I just stand on the tire. Its higher anyway.

When did you notice it was still attached? Did you get a couple revolutions out of it! :highly_amused: PJ
