Had some time with Bugsy III my '59 BE parts car yesterday. Wiring is virtually unmolested. Mounted on the RF inner fender edge is a small rectangular silver can with three terminals and two wires connected. It sits close to brake switch. Thinking voltage stabilizer possibly. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture.
 
39 people looked and no one knows? Will take a picture next time. Ray must know this one.
 
Been trying to visualize it, Jim. Need pics. Bugeyes didn't originally have a voltage stabilizer or anything like what you're describing.
 
Sounds like a flasher unit. What color are the wires connected to it?

Sounds like an early Flux Capacitor to me. If only your Sprite could hit 88mph...

Silver / galvanized can. 11/2" -1 3/4"long maybe 3/4 to 1" wide. 3 leads off of it. Mounted low on inside of RF fender within 6" is brake union and brake switch. Not where I can get pics of it right now.
 
Ballast resistor?

Your description sounds like the flasher, but whatever it is, it's not stock. The flasher should be mounter on the firewall, fairly close to where the wire loom passes through from the interior. You can see it in the attached pic from this very original car that belonged to my friend. You can also see the inner fender pretty well where the brake union is mounted.

Most likely added by someone along the way. It could possibly be a relay, but Bugeye's never had voltage stabilizers.

No it's not the flasher as there is one of those. Could be a relay. Ok team I'll take a picture and post it when I get the chance. Thanks.
 
Sounds like a horn relay to me. Placement and size fit that usage. Bob
 
You may be right. I hope to have sone time available in the garage tomorrow night.
