Nice tune, done well. Sort of sounded like billy Holiday, and Madeleine Peyroux. But people that sing and play that type of music often end up in wrecks. Just listening made me want to kick the gong around.
 
Tragically gone at age 27, by heroin, etc. Same age as Van Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Curt Cobain.

That's a lot of talent, wasted away. Why can't someone intervene, save them from the needle?

My opinion - it's because of the type of people they surround themselves with. Birds of a feather - enablers.
 
As I understand, she resisted most attempts by family and friends to intervene and when she did go to rehab didn't seem to make the effort to follow through afterwards. It's an unfortunate thing, but if a person refuses to help themself then there's very little anyone else can do.
