What a find !

A number of years ago at a local auto flea market, I met a vendor with some Jag parts. He said he had an early XKE parts car he's selling, so I later went to see it. His house basement was one large garage filled with many wonderful things. He pulled the sheet off one of the covered cars and there was a Bugatti. Now, i've been restoring Jags for many years and I consider myself a good judge of old cars. I looked it over for quite a few minutes without saying much. I then said, " This IS the best original Bugatti in the world, isn't it?" He shook his head yes, and said his father bought it brand new in Europe and brought in here to the States, not driving it much. Just sitting covered in a nice warm basement. It had the look of a 15 or 20 year old restoration, it was that nice, but it was never touched. Still had original paint, interior, spotless engine, etc. What a work of automotive art.

I've seen him vending rusty old car parts, occasionally, out of his old pick-up truck and he still has the cars.

Gee, what an opportunity to breeze in and "I'll buy that old clunker your Dad promised me back in...."
