AAAaARRRGHHH!!! Today was my first day back at school. A full day of sitting around listening to the same thing they've said on this day for 18 years. By lunch I was exhausted, got a phone call from young son's school...seems he was involved in an altercation that resulted in some shoving and pushing and due to his school's zero tolerance policy he has been suspended for three days. I had to leave to pick him up, parallel parked the Alfa at one of the meters out front and when I got back out, some *#%$*@#! inconsiderate a**hole had backed into the nose and dented again!!!!!! :wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:
I spent my entire summer break researching and learning how to repair that nose and now...I actually almost broke into tears. No note, no witnesses just a BIG DENT. Why don't people who don't know how to parallel park just put their stupid SUV's in the garage?

I'm going to have a drink.
 
Have a drink, relax, forget about it...notify the police & give it to your insurance company...hit & run.
 
I hate that for you. I'm sure you will talk to young son, calmly, about his issue and how to avoid that in the future. Then have a drink (or 3), look at the Alfa and know you can remedy the damage and relax.

To be honest, I was pretty much over young son's stupidity. One of the problems with raising highly intelligent kids is teaching them not to let other people control them. He loves to play devil's advocate (imagine that...wonder where that comes from?) and his greatest failure was failing to recognize that some people do not realize that you can disagree about certain political or societal issues without resorting to physical violence.
He did not become physical, but he did retaliate. I'm not sure how you tell a 15 year old to "stand up for himself" and at the same time say "don't fight."
He will be doing his school work and "extra duty" at home. He is disappointed in himself for letting someone else control the situation when he could have used his wonderful sense off humor and intelligence to diffuse it rather than sarcasm to let it escalate. He knows he screwed up, now he will pay the penalty and perhaps take a higher road next time.
My husband of course blames the dented front end on him because I wouldn't have been parked down there to start with if he had done right. So, I guess young son will be learning body work too.

He'll enjoy it...especially when he figures out he can start pulling other people's strings!

hehehehehehe......Doc, did you ever have to go through the military's Human Relations course in Miami back in the '70's?
 
I'd sure ask about that security camera, Terri. If they have a zero tolerance policy, I'll bet they have cameras all over the place.

Now that would be great to see the look on the a$$holes face when the police show up for a hit and run with a picture of them doing it.

But don't wait, so the videos don't get recorded over.

My son's school is located in downtown. I was parked on the street in downtown LR. I will ask tomorrow if they have a camera pointed at that area, but I really don't hold out any hope.
To be honest, after coming home and making a good dinner and eating with the boys (and a couple of drinks) I think I'm going to just start over. The dent is not as bad as where I started, the metal isn't creased just dented, so I guess we will just pull it into the garage on Saturday, remove the bumper and work it out again.
I think the biggest disappointment is that this car has moved in front of the B in its "needs". Mainly because it does run great and has air conditioning (which in Arkansas makes it an August driver)
I'm learning....by the time I get ready to turn my eyes back to the B, it will be truly beautiful because besides running great, it will look great too! I still have so much to learn and this is just another "bump in the road"
Thank you all for letting me unload and having a place to vent!
 
It just stinks that a major portion of the "drivers" in this country are anything but. It does make a case for on-board video, tho.

It was mandatory, IIRC. Ours was in D.C. tho. I'd have MUCH preferred a TDY to Miami. You OFFICER types had all th' fun. Us enlisted swine were discriminated against. :wink:

...you KNOW that was in jest. Some of my best friends were officers. :devilgrin:

But, you wouldn't have enjoyed the final 'exam' or exercise of however you define it!
