Typical for me -
Decided to go the night before,& I'd take the long way there & go to Stuart,VA
to try a restaurant for breakfast that I hadn't been to.Double checked to see when it
opened. Two places on websites said 4AM.I thought that was early, but wouldn't get
there until about 6.
Drive down to Floyd, then down Highway 8,having a great drive on a great driving
road UNTIL I came upon a Dodge pickup that the driver slowed WAY down for the corners.
They finally tuned off, then I got blinded by one of those newer SUVs,so that I almost couldn't
see the highway that I needed to turn on.
Pulled into Stuart about 5:45.Restaurant not open.Look inside, where the sign says that
they open at 6:30.Decide to wait 'till they open.6:30,still not open.Look again, then notice the
White sheet of paper that someone wrote "CLOSED" on with an ink pen.
Get back into car,& almost get lost, switching highway to highway, until I make it into
Martinsville.Pass by a restaurant,turn around & stop there.Order breakfast,saying I want hash -
browns with it.Get breakfast, but no hashbrown, just tater tots.Tell the waitress I ordered hashbrowns,
she tel;ls me they don't sell them.
Eat breakfast, then go into the restroom to use the toilet & wash my hands. Then I notice that
there's no sink in the restroom.Pay the bill & leave, making a mental note to never go THERE again.
I arrived at the race track about an hour later than I'd planned. No Sun - overcast until the after-
noon, when it got fairly warm.Got to park in the infield, and met a few nice people.
Most of the races I saw were okay, and the Spec Miata class had about 52 cars in it,& they completed
less than 1/2 a lap before there was a huge pile up just before the bridge that put one of the cars on it's
side against the right side armco, and another was stopped off the left side of the track,& another in the
middle.Took about 40 minutes to clean up the whole mess.
Not sure if I'd go again - I think I'd rather stay home and watch it on my TV/computer instead.
