so the schedule has finally slowed down. today I started my official 13 day vacation, and I've spent the last two days working on the midget. most good but now I've run into a huge bad.

the bad news first. not even an hour ago I was taking the driver side A-pillar of the windshield, and it was being quite the pig. so I grabbed a plastic mallet and began to give it a gentle but firm tap. well, that was a bad idea, the part of the pillar that bolts to the car, snapped in half, and once again according to the VB catalog, its another irreplaceable part. so why do I have this kind of luck? I'm starting to get agrevatted. the bad news doesn't stop there, I continued with taking the pillar off and then the glass spider cracked. not a big deal considering I had planned on buying new glass anyway, but I had also planned on selling the glass to help fund the new glass. so that was it for the bad.

on to progress.

well let me first say, I wish I could kick the guy who engineered the dash in the face. I have never had to put myself in more pain trying to get to those bolts to get those darn things out. I literaly have cuts and wounds all over my hands, head, back, and arms. but I did get it out, and I have pletny of time to figure out a new way to put it all back together. I also removed all the guages and switches. I still haven't taken the padding off, but I'll get to it some other day. I got the front half wireing harness riding shotgun until I can get the rear half out. I may just toss the whole thi ng, but I'm will to give it away, once I get it out. its just not in any condition to sale. I also got the doors off, and completely disassembled. I got the glass out, but I need to know if any of you know of a chemical out there that will dissolve the old rubber that is on the glass. the doors were a little tricky, and I have a few problem screws on the hinges and I will prolly have to drill those out. the doors were not as hard to take apart as I thought, but the sill trim bolts were not that fun to take out. I also took the top frame off, but the top is still one it, until I take that off. that was all done yesterday. today I cleaned the shells of the guages so I can put them on ebay. the crud that was on the chome bezels wasn't that hard to remove, but they are not show quality, but from difference you would swear that they spotless. well, except for the oil/ttemp ring, which is gonna need a little more elbow grease. all of the gaskets for them will need to be replace, but they all work. and the glass for each guage is perfect, except the tack has a little chip on an edge, that is hidden by the bezel, so its not in sight. the outsides are not perfect, I don't have the materials on hand, to completely refurbish them, but I brushed off the last 36 years of corrosion but they could use a more intense cleaning, as well as a coat of paiint to keep it from being rusty in the future. so I'm gonna be putting the guages, mirrors, and door handles on eay this week. if anyone wants the door locks I am getting rid of those as well, I don't have keys for them, so they may not be usefull. anway, that is the latest and lets hope the next 10 or so day sare just as productive. I just got an offer for my transmission, so I gotta get that out of the car soon.

Have you checked the Moss catalog?

You can get complete frames on ebay for 20-50 dollars.
