It appears that just about the entire area is flooding. Luckily, the town I live in is higher than the surrounding prairie.. My midget thinks it's back in England again.. That's where it was the last time it was surrounded by water.

YIKES!!! Do we need to call for an airlift rescue?!?

I've got a boat ...................... Do you need assistance!!!!!

Kinda hard to paddle from Florida to North Dakota... I wuz jus' gonna dial 911. :smirk:

Glad to hear that you are on high ground... sleep with one-eye open.... water rises fast.
Stay safe, stay dry.

Bryan! Are you high enuff to weather the high water??

Na, don't need no rescue, but you can come up and go fishing if you want... Got coffee, got beer, got food. Aint gonna leave the car or the dogs... Coyotes, moose or cattle would probably beat me up and take the boat... I guess I'll just stay here.

We'll be fine, as long as the government don't come in and help, hee hee hee

We are fine here, High up on the prairie. I feel sorry for the people lower down in the valleys ect.. The only thing we get is water rushing down main street from the high flat on the west side of town to the stream on the east side.

Good on ya!

... I rue th' day the hurricane threat comes an' some "Official" tells me I gotta abandon th' hovel so's to get trapped on some concrete ribbon parking lot jus' 'cause HE says so.

Baaaad Ju-ju!

If the water gets too high, maybe the government will help you to "bail-out" the water.... everyone else is getting a bail-out

We ain't got no bail-out here, Elliot.

I been payin' attention to th' mailbox, too. :jester:

Besides, you'd probably get blown to New Jersey by the storms in the south. We are all just going to have to hunker down and ride out the spring. This happens every 10 years or so around here. This year is just a bit worse than most.

When I was a kid I was a victim of THE MOUSE THAT ROARED. I lived n the area of Oak Park in MINOT ND. This was before any dikes and the reroute of the river thru town. When the 3rd street dike across the street from the house let go we were standing in the yard watching the dump trucks trying to stay ahead of the water it was pretty scary as the dirt just liquefied before our eyes and the river was at the front door with a wake on either side of the corners of the house . That night the house on the corner blew up when the pilot light on the water heater or the furnace went out and a spark they guess setoff the gas. Spent weeks on north hill in a trailer parked next to the hangar at Pietsch Flying Services. I hope you dont need to get across town North - South its probley better now but back then it took hours to go from north hill to south hill.

Was that the 69 or 74 flood? Both were bad, but 69 was worse. Thankfully, they have diked and straightened the river since then, so the floods in Minot are not so vast. They also bult a viaduct over the river on Broadway and at 3rd st NE. so you can get north to south now. The flooding is a lot worse south and east of Minot right now, but the Mouse (Souris) and Des Lacs rivers have not crested yet.........

I has in both the 69 and 74. I was in high school in the 74. I drove dump trucks to dike up the area near the high school my shift was at night. We would back up on to the dike and be shone the way by flash light were to go scary as heck not seeing were you were going! We had one guy get a little to close to the edge and he tumbled in to the school near the arrowhead shopping center.
The biggest problem in the 74 flood was the amount of debirs in the river. they had done some work to straighten the river flow thru town to get the water away quicker but it made the debis come even faster that got pluged under the bridges.Areas down river suffered worse than in 69.
Stay dry and lets hope for the best.
