Last major rust repair project anyway - I hope. I dearly, dearly hope. Anyway I pulled have the TR3 going off to the body shop tomorrow. I found a very good local place with a very skilled panel guy. Since things are slow they are working with me, and I think to some extent, have taken pity on me for being so dumb as to have all of these projects.

She'll get new outer sills, floors, fender bottom, and trunk floor. I was hoping to save the paint but not with all that work, which is too bad since I kinda dig the patina she has on her.

Where would you guys recommend sourcing the sills from? I know there have been some threads on the replacement panel profiles not being quite right.

Hi Andy, was heading that way until I also found this.

Might still be possible - I'd prefer not to have to deal with gaps and profile.

I believe I would go with Andy on the patching. Cutout a little larger around he rusted spots and rust treat the inside sills while you have a large opening o work with. Things move when you cut out sills and rockers.

Try TRF for the sills. Charles has worked extremely hard to build ones that DO NOT have all the fit issues. While some filling will be necessary for sure, I believe he has the closest to original.

Thanks guys - Gordon will keep TRF on mind I I need to go there.

What do you guys think of the near Healey blue a a color?

I really like the color.
Brings back memories. It is almost the same as my old 1960,my first car, that I painted "turquoise seafoam mist",in 1968,and unfortunately have no pictures of.I was tempted to do it again on my current TR3a project, but looks like its going to be triple black.
Thanks
Tom

Hi Tom,

Sort of off topic, but thought you might be interested. This TR6 just came up for sale today up here and looks to be fairly close in color to your 3. I think the 6 looks pretty good in the color as well.

Just noticed that your 3 is from Colorado. So is mine! Maybe they are sisters :cooler:

Cheers,

Is that Shawn's old car's color?

That sounds like a deal
