Got the radiator, gas tank & heater back today. $135, boiled out, lined the gas tank, did some minor repair on the "TRIUMPH" radiator. Says so right on the bill. TRIUMPH. (guy must be related to walty) Anyway, the guy lost the plug and washer to my gas tank. Had the tank sitting (to dry from the lining stuff) with the plug sitting right on top. He got to the shop today, and the gas tank was moved 'over there' and there was no plug around. I told him to find it, I'd be back to pick it up Monday. So that stuff is all done.

Going to POR the gas tank Sunday (will be in the 50s) and paint the heater. What kind of paint do I use for the heater?

Now for the ***YIKES*** part. Dahubby forgot to mention to me that when he was at John's shop yesterday, John told him he could be ready for Binabox soon, in a week or two, maybe less! One guy is ahead of me, but he hasn't called John since the first of the year. John's going to call him and tell him to bring the car in or he's taking Binabox.

Got a few things to do on her yet, rear brake lines have to come off, I have to remove the rest of the pop rivets off the sides from the chrome stripes, steering wheel & column needs to come off. A COLOR NEEDS TO BE PICKED!

If John gets Binabox in by the end of this month, we could hit our (okay fine, MY) ETD of June 15th!

Shiny black paint on heater....looks like you're going to have a busy weekend IN THE GARAGE! Drill & 1/8" bit takes all the little side trim 'buttons' off quite quickly.

Are you rolling her over to paint the undersides also?

Yup, that's what I'm using. I've started on the rivets already, about 1/3 of the passenger side is done.

Shiny black, high gloss, gloss, semi-gloss. High heat resistant, any particular brand?

Rolling Binabox over? I can't do that, no tissery. Or do you mean when we get her to John's? He's got a tissery. I want to take JUST the shell over, leaving everything else here and borrow a tissery so we can work on the skeleton while John beautifies her.

Shiny black!

How can you work on "the skeleton" while John works on it - they're 1 & the same...unless by "skeleton" you mean the front & rear suspension....

Yep, John gets the 'skin,' we keep the skeleton.

Well, just never heard the front & rear suspension called the 'skeleton'....you can do lots with that while he's got the 'skin'

If you haven't already chosen an exterior color, have you thought about dark gunmetal grey metallic? I believe the code for it is 44490 grey Dupont. It's the same grey that is used on the Eleanor '67 Mustang in Gone in 60 Seconds.

When I read this thread, the image of a B with that color and a nice black leather interior popped into my head. It was sweet /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Anyway, that's my suggestion.

Tony, yup, and the guts are still in boxes on the shelf!

John, actually the very FIRST color we thought of was a dark gunmetal grey with black and the chrome. It's a fantastic combination! Stewart on the boards here has a great looking B that color. Do a 'search' for him.

Anyway, early on after getting Binabox I (okay fine, we) decided that we wanted to stay as close to period correct as possible with the car. So that of course, eliminates any metallics.

What we've narrowed it down to is dove grey with red top and interior, OEW with red top and interior, iris blue with navy top and interior.

Ah yes, I remember the B in that thread. Very nice; the color is fairly close to that of my own B, but that's pretty much where the similarities end! :p

Out of the list you have above, I'd probably go with the dove grey/red interior one. On a car with shiny wire wheels, I would like the way a darker paint would contrast with it. Alas, the darker you go, the more body shop time it'll have to undergo in order to get it perfect. Darker colors show flaws more so than a lighter one would.

~nods~ You're right. And light colors are more forgiving. And I think maybe a little understated. It's a really hard decision for us because we had no preconceived ideas or picks. I may end up flipping a 3-sided coin. I want a color that's not a common, popular color - that's why I want the dove grey. Chuck wants a classic color, OEW. Iris blue is last on the list, dahubby isn't sold on that yet...yet.

Josh, I LIVE on that site! I'd go a shade lighter on the iris blue I think. Did you see the dove grey with red right under the iris blue one?

Go for the dove grey and red. Very understated but classy.

IMO the iris blue looks kinda flat. No offense to those iris blue owners out there.

I'm starting to really like the red interiors. First time I saw one on a TR3 I thought yikes but they are really starting to grow on me.

... my .02

I did see that one; the cockpit reminds me of that of an old fighter plane (the MGA on there, that is) :p. You'd have to be a little bit careful with that, so the red interior doesn't totally overpower the mild exterior.

I particularly like the way the OEW/red combo is done on the MGC GT a little further down; I assume that's pretty close to how you would want yours to be done. That sort of interior setup would pop out, but wouldn't overpower the milder OEW.

If you want to be different, what about Iris Blue with white leather seats / Navy piping? Just another option, like you need it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Iris Blue, the color I love to hate. Or is that the color I hate to love? I dunno what to think!

Gonna reiterate: Grey with red interior. Classy...

ALMOST as classy as OEW/black int. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I vote, ahhhhh, Dove Grey, Red Leather.

Just let Chuck decide!
