Welcome to the world of micro-car nuts

That's fantastic!

I hope they keep a running journal....I'll be watching.

Looks like they'll be going pretty close to Basil's joint. They'll be in Albuquerque and then Grants or Gallup (NM) around Sept 18-19).

Note: This web page loads *very* slow (for me, at least), but it's worth waiting for.

Note#2: Here's the condensed version---A gang of Czech kids are driving five Velorexs for 2500 miles on Rt. 66

Those lads are either very intrepid or completely insane. No room for gray area in THAT venture!

wow.

Are you somehow in on this insanity, Brian? :smirk:

Wonder if we could convince them to stop by my place & leave one of the little things?

Hey, they are kicking this thing off in my back yard! How cool is that? I'll have to see if I can be there to take some pics.

Take lots of photos of the green one....see what they're worth also...

Darn, darn, darn!

Once again the neatest automotive things never even come close to my part of the world... :cryin:

Someone take photos for me? Please... :savewave:

And there is supposedly a Velorex here in Calgary, but I've never seen it...

I love it! I hope we treat them well, 2400+ miles will leave some sore tails (and tall tales). I’m sure any of you that can cheer them on along the way will be well remembered. It is really quite a heroic thing, they must have a parts van following, but there is no mention of it. The romance of Route 66, I loved that show.

We are involved in the micro-car world through our Isetta project (www.teamisetta.com) and, like all car groups, it has it own personality. Lots of passion surrounding specific flavors of cars, a few very opinionated "spiky" characters who struggle with social skills, and a goodly handful of really helpful, kind and patient experts. The Isetta is coming along slowly, my kids are considerably younger than the Team Sprite group, and so it has taken longer to get through the bodywork stage. The Sprite team was fed by all your encouraging e-mails (many are here: https://www.teamisetta.com/WebEmailsSprite.html) and 12,000 hits on their site, the Isetta community is much smaller, and, perhaps, the project doesn’t really have the magnetism yet to draw a big response. The bodywork will be finished and primed next week and that should be a shot-in-the-arm for the kids. The new school year starts in a little over two weeks and we’ll see who steps up, it’s still an after-school and weekends project funded almost entirely by yours truly, but I am determined to see it finished properly.
Hope you all are doing well, we still talk about our friends out there.

I took a photo at their journey's end as seen on this page of my web site:

went to look at the picture and ended us mesmerized by your garage! WOW - I have a dream...

I know of the Isetta and have watched the site. We miss ya. Do an LBC next go!

:iagree: with the good Doc., Brian!! You will also have to keep us posted on the Isetta's progress  (Use the "other Cars" forum!! )

How about those Italian Midgets that were just on ebay? You can get 2 countries with 1 vehicle that way!

Can't find them now - the auction must be over....they were either under "MG Midget" or "Other Makes".

Cute, but only about 40% of cute enough. I am clearly tired, but I just saw a old Vespa with a sidecar that was nicely restored, I know, I know, get some sleep and start fresh tomorrow. Fortunately we have our work cut out for us if we want to show the Isetta next summer. That should keep me out if trouble.
