Weight of a Bug-Eye bodytub: approx 220 pounds

We've got a completely stripped bug-eye body tub sitting on stands in the garage and I went out and stood on a scale and lifted the left rear fender (92 pounds) and put the scale under the front (40 pounds) and came up with a weight of about 220 pounds for the entire body (sans nose, sans everything).
Not precise, but hopefully accurate enough in case anyone has been lying awake at night, wondering about such major issues.
 
Sounds about right. I know four old guys can carry one without straining.
 
I've got mine on a rolling stand with the front and rear suspension installed and I'm wondering about the best way to lift it off. Once the plumbing and tank are installed along with the tires I'm hoping 4 old guys can pick it up! I'm guessing it will be about 500 lbs by then...

Rut, I'm generally not fond of blue cars but yours is just exquisite.
 
I'd recommend spitting, grunting, and farting - seems to increase strength by a significant percentage, particularly for old guys.

Thank you for your kind comments! When I bought this car it was very red and that's what I really wanted, but as I started restoring it the Iris Blue grew on me. I'm very pleased with the way it came out and will take it back for final polishing in a few weeks.

Thats pretty much how I do things now, I just have to convince the other 3 that it's a good method.

Rut you've added significant weight here. Thinking engine hoist up front and perhaps an 8' 4x4 somehow attached to rear axle going to a hoist up overhead. Rear end and front suspension have upped the weight again to over 500 lbs. if you are putting on wheels and tires that brings it up to 600'pounds. I worry if you are trying to place on jackstands it's possible for you to slip and knock one over and then have things come crashing down and get someone hurt. Some sort of spreader bar in the rear is needed so hoist ropes don't rub against the body.
 
Out of curiosity, how does the weight of a Square Sprite tub compare to a BE? Off hand, I'd guess they weigh a bit more?
 
Not that much different. Maybe 150-lbs. Doors significantly heavier with bracing. Rear hinges for Trunk Structucture. Guys who race these can tell you exactly
