Hi all i just rebuilt my 1300 spit motor last fall had the head all rebuilt (all new valves 'guides' harden seats etc.)also had it shaved and maged ; at the same time had the block all redone ; bored 30 over crank polished etc. the problem is at the back of the head when the motor is running it's weeping anti-freeze from a spot you can't get your head down to see ; i tried re-tourqueing the head but still leaks; so do i take off the head and try copper spray on the gasket or a new head gasket ; i used a payen gasket since i heard they were the best for my motor any advise is welcome.

1300....1300.....don't those have a core plug on the end face of the head?
You REALLY need to invest in a good inspection mirror.
If it's leaking, and the shop put it in, have a discussion with the shop that did the work about gaskets, and fixing the core plug properly.
Never hurts to negotiate up-front.
Doesn't mean it isn't the head gasket, but if you can feel a big, round core plug back there, see if it is damp at the bottom, THEN discuss options with the shop.

For what it's worth, I have found that head gaskets tend to weep most after the engine cools down while core plugs and such leak most when hot. Tom

thanks guys but the core plugs aren't the problem so going to get some morso engine sealer or just take off the head and change the gasket ;but not today i need warm weather to work outside
