webring / publicize website

For anyone with websites on their Spridgets:

I am looking to join the Spridget webring, but it seems to be messed up. Whenever I find a website on the Spridget ring and click join, it brings me to the mgcars webpage and from there I cannot join the spridgets webring.

Does anyone know if the Spridgets webring is alive and well?

Also, are there any other webrings that someone can suggest to put my site on? I am pending to be set up on "British Cars by Webring" but am looking to see if there are others I should join.

Not looking to get any money from page visits, but now that i'm taking the time to put a site out there, I'd like it to be found.

TIA,
Ed

PS - car is still dead, not much time to work on it now. Will be pulling the engine this winter and re-painting at least the bonnet. Hope it's all back together by Carlisle!!!

BCF does websites??

Ed,
My site https://www.raysmg.com is a member of the MG Site Web Ring. If you go to the Ring banner at the bottom of my home page you will see the "Add Your Site" link. Follow it and you should see on the displayed page as option #2 "Join Up". Click on that and you should arrive at the link data page.

That said, I can tell you that BCF is the #1 referring site to my own web site. By adding your URL to your signature you will get some hits. By adding content to your site that can be referenced in future posts and contains significant value, you will add more hits.

In November of this year my site served up 2,977 page requests for a total of 92,285 object requests. As I mentioned BCF is the #1 referring site. The #2 referring site is YAHOO Search where, when I last checked, my site displayed 9th on a search for "MG Midget"...after the expected commercial sites. On Google (same search criteria) I'm up to results page three...I was once on results page 36.

So, the navigation from BCF definitely enhances one's pages reference by the major search engines. I do not subscribe to any publication services; my page's identity is promoted only by actual accesses and crawler identification.

Ray,

Thanks for the info.

I had gotten to the MG Site Web Ring from your site, but wasn't sure if I could join (being a Bugeye and all).

The Owner of that ring was also the one that let me know the Spridget Ring seemed to be in dis-repair.

I can only hope that I can get 1/2 as much content on my site that you do, that is where I am aiming, we'll see if I have the time to get it done.

Currently if you Google "Ed's Bugeye", I'm the 1st site, but any other search, I can't even find myself /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Content takes a while...and quite a lot of work. I try to capture photos that reflect something I've done or something that helped in something I've done...and we all know a picture's worth. I make no claims to being an expert of any sort, but I have had a few successes along the way that have been chronicled with photos.

My interests are varied; I show, I drive, and I'm currently "knee deep" ...err... make that "up to my neck" in a project. Then there's such items as the car hauler, documentation, etc. Since I've retired, there's more time for every aspect of my illness ...err... hobby.

I realize that age takes it's toll and that someday (not for a loooong time I hope) I may not be able to be as physically involved as I am today. Then, I'm sure the maintenance of the web site and correspondence with friends all over, on lists and off, will take on an even greater significance.

Ray, please hush, anyone that cuts a Spridget in half and puts it back together as well as you have is a expert in my book anyday /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I'm afraid the way Rays project is going he needs to start looking now for the next one.
