Weber manifold-air leak

Hey guys,

I find that my intake manifold is leaking air. It occurs where the distributor air line enters that little brass tube feeding into the intake. My problem is that the little brass tube won't stay in the alum. intake.

Does it have to be welded, or can I use something like J-B weld?

Hello Stuart,
it can't be welded, but it is worth trying an epoxy based adhesive. For best results thoroughly degrease the manifold and the tube, something like electrical contact cleaner or carburettor cleaner should do. The alternative is to tap a thread and screw in a suitable adaptor. I would try the adhesive first.

Helicoil. That's your answer.
People have been using them in stripped bug spark plug holes for decades.
It's a little insert that goes in there and replaces the stripped threads. Works great.

If the fitting isn't stripped, just loose, then try a little teflon tape on the threads.
