Weber final adjustments-I hope

1978 Midget-water choke-just installed Weber Dvg. Have the manifold on tight, had to grind off part of exhaust manifold. Questions: 1.It starts up hard-the starter stops turning after a few seconds-If I keep trying it will start.(too much gas?) It runs great -at first-then dies at idle and will not take gas. It runs great at 2000++ rmp good power. What is this,-fuel pressure(stock mechanical pump-new), choke? thanks Jim

sounds like the timing may be to far advanced?

Re: Weber final adjustments-I hope--up-date

Update, I switched the old fuel pump back in-runs and starts great, must have been the manifold leak and the fuel pressure. Now I know why the midget 1500 needs a tach-lots of power. Now it goes fast-time to fix the the brakes. Found some info on a Spitfire site about old and new(higher pressure) repro fuel pumps. I may rebuild the old one or go with an electric. thanks Jim
