Weber DGV and 1500

I just picked up a DGAV 32/36 (electric choke) conversion kit for my 1500, but the instructions that came with it seem pretty sparse on some things. Has anybody done one of these conversions? Specifically:

The new air filter housing has a 1/2" hole in the bottom, and a plastic nipple that appears to go into it. I'm assuming that's the breather connection. It would have to go somewhere, because it would leave a big hole inside of the filter element. Is it safe to say that I could leave the existing breather pipe, and just replace the stubby hose that went to the Zenith with a longer one to this new fitting?

There's a vacuum port near the throttle, and I'm going to assume that's where the distributor advance would go.

Can the EGR valve be left in place and just disconnected, or does it have to be removed to clear the new manifold and carb? Hoping I don't have to plug the exhaust hole.
