Sorry for being late to the party but just fumbled and stumbled my way across this and saw no replies.
It would not shock me to find out the Redline air filters are made by K&N and if that is the case, then I have some information you should be able to use if you haven't already addressed everything. First off, due to how close the RH wheel well is to the mounted carburetors, the thickest air filter you can run is the 1 3/4" thick one. Next, you really need to run the velocity stacks since they not only smooth out air flow into the carburetor, they also hold the auxiliary venturi in place. Finally, the standard 40DCOE velocity stacks are too tall (26 or so mm IIRC) to fit properly in the 1 3/4" thick filter body and cover.
There are two problems to address when it comes to the stacks, where can you get 16mm velocity stacks for the 40DCOE. You can get them from Pierce Manifolds under what appears to be a genuine Weber part number 52840.006. The next issue is fitting them with the air filter base. I found that the lip where the hold down clips for velocity stacks go was larger than diameter than the hole in the K&N air filter base. I stuck an stack in the hole then ran a Sharpie around that outer diameter of the lip, then opened up the holes to the ink marks left by the Sharpie with a die grinder and double cut cylindrical burr. Hopefully if you get the filters from Redline, theirs will have that hole opened up already which would eliminate problem #2.
