Early '74 MGB with Weber DGEV Carb. I've owned since August and it's been running great. Yesterday, after about one hour of running, it started to fail to decelerate lower than @ 1,200 to 1,400 rpm. Would decelerate if I either pumped the pedal or put my toe under the pedal and pulled it backwards. I checked that the spring appears normal and no friction on the cable itself. With the cable detached, when I move the throttle on the carb it acts the same way - I have to make it rotate back the last 1/4" or so.
The one Weber Carb book that I have is heavy on theory and has little practical knowledge in it. Is the one spring attached to engine body and throttle the sole source of retraction force? Is this a "stronger spring" issue or a lubrication issue?
Can anyone recommend a good Weber book with useful info on the DGV series?
