Freezing rain last night, now 40F, rain and sleet. Been like this for about two weeks. I *think* we saw some sun for a couple minutes last Monday.

(strange - the picture showed when I uploaded and posted it. Now it's only a text link.)

3 F here this morning with a predicted high of only 25 F. 2 ft of snow on the ground, and it's been like this for 2 solid months. I'd take 40F and rain in a heartbeat. At this rate I may never drive my Healey again...

Keith, there has been some news stories lately about the nasty air in Utah.
You close to any of that??

Yep, I forgot to mention the pollution in my previous rant. Logan is the epicenter of the bad air in Utah. Although we have fewer people and fewer cars than the Salt Lake area, we are in a small valley surrounded by mountains and the pollution has no way to get out when we get the dreaded temperature inversions (cold in the valley, warm in the mountains). The worst form of pollution for us is PM 2.5 (particles less than 2.5 micrometers). For many, many days over the past two months Logan had the worst air quality in the entire nation.

The bad air is gone (for now), but the cold and snow remain. It looks like this right now.

Just blew 4" snow today for second time in a week but it's been a mild winter for us and in March I just let it melt.

Keith, my wife recognized your photo right off as she went to Utah State. Mentioned road to Bear Lake being good drive which we will take one of these days.

Richard,
If your wife was a science major of any kind, she probably had me for Introductory Biology. My last name is Mott.

Funny you should mention the drive to Bear Lake. The video below is me driving my Healey on that road. Make sure your speakers are on!

Keith, great video, haven't figured out how you did some of those shots. I'm sure you are far to young to have been there when she rec'd a BA in landscape architecture and environmental planning although it sounds like most of her time was spent skiing on Beaver Mountain.
Nice car!

I've been here almost 30 years, but I've only been teaching the Intro course for about 15 years. I have taught Plant Physiology for 30 years, though, so if your wife got a degree in landscape architecture within the last 30 years, I'll bet she had my course.

I've been skiing Beaver Mountain for all of my 30 years here. It's a great little ski area.

The shots outside the car were done with a small video camera mounted on a long pole, which my friend Jason maneuvered around the car while I drove. Lots of double-takes by people coming the other way. Jason deserves all the credit. He shot all the video and did all the editing. I just drove and tried to look cool.

In that case, Keith, I know a great place to send it after our weather improves ...
