GSA is auctioning off the former Naval base at Sugar Grove Station, WV for $1mil: https://realestatesales.gov/gsaauctions/aucdsclnk?sl=PEACH416004001 Scroll through the pics and check out the garage facility. What a great retirement community we could build for LBCers. We'd need to figure out how to use the facility roads as a hot track, but I'm sure it could be done. There was a condo facility called Hawk's Hill in NC that had the idea of an LBC retirement community. Don't know how it worked out for everyone. Do this same set up in Hawaii and I'm gone!

WOW! count me in for $100 Canadian which is .... ummm .... never mind.

seriously though, seems like an interesting opportunity for sure.

West Virginia? Had a US Navy base?

I can see radio station ... but naval base?

hmmmmm

I was stationed at a Naval Air Station in Olathe, Kansas! JTTU Jet Transitional Training Unit. We trained old Navy prop pilots to fly jets. :encouragement: PJ

I've been on that base and stayed at one of the guest cottages. It is nice. We have friends that have a cabin a few miles south of the base. Lots of great twisty roads that go up and down mountains. The main route in, US 33 out of Harrisonburg has over 100 switchbacks as it goes up and down the mountain. I always am amazed at hitting "scan" on my radio and just watch it endlessly cycle without finding a station. If I had money, I'd buy property down there.
