Wazza's Rostyles

Rain has stopped, river flooding has gone down, and the sun is shining. Time to fix up those rusty Rostyle rims. The rims arrived with a really rough paint job on some of them, with the others just a nice shade of rust.

Spent some time applying paint stripper, as well as sanding back the rust. Then a coat of XTroll to encapsulate any rust and stop it spreading.

Coat of undercoat, couple of coats of black, then masking up, two coats of silver, finished by three coats of clear.

I'm very happy with them. Now to let the paint harden properly then off to get some new tyres on them. There seems to be a lot of comments on tyre/tire sizes so I'll go with what I can get here in Oz.

Looks great! BTW Warren, are you aware of the Spridgets-aus Yahoo group? This forum is awesome but you might have allies closer to home.

cheers

Oops - just looks at the group and the third post was from you.

Thanks JP. I'm pretty happy with them, just have to see how they look in the morning with a bit of sun on them.

I've been in the Yahoo Group for some time now, and just like to hear some of the "pearls of wisdom" from blokes like Colin Dodds. I've been to his place a couple of times and he is a really nice bloke with a lot of knowledge.

Always good for a bit of a laugh.

Very nice looking.

Wazza, nice job on the very rusty rostyles. Rostyles are very attractive wheels on these cars, second only to wires, IMHO.

I hand-sanded and painted mine, but didn't do the reverse side. One of these days I'll have them media blasted and painted the right way.

Thanks for posting the photos. Nice job. :yesnod:

Look excellent, like new.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I'm pretty chuffed about how they came out and having a look this morning in the sunshine makes them look even better.

I'll have to give them a week or so to toughen up before I get tyres/tires fitted.

I used 2-pack paint on the wheels to give them a tougher finish, and I was lucky enough to be painting in the fresh air so just used a normal painting mask. The colours I used were Deep Black, and Extra Fine Aluminium.
