Wayne, what is it worth?

You can find a price range in many documents but 'it' (vehicles worth) is always based on the condition of the individual vehicle compared to other same cond. vehicles sold on the world market. This one, as stated, has a replacement motor and and other variables. Don't mean to sound pretentious but I appraise collector veh. for a living. If you are serious about it have it appraised.

G'day,
The replacement engine looks to have Strombergs. Were these carbs ever standard fitment to US TR3's? I don't think so.

Bruce, a few things came right out at me, not to say it's not a nice car. The engine and transmission are an understandalbe replacement and even in England I have seen a few and heard of a lot more. The brake master has been replace with a TR6 or Spitfire one, along with a added clutch master to work the TR3 tranny. The front uprights are on the wrong side as the long end should point down. The chrome looks a little suspect, which can get into the thousands. The rear window should have been the same color as the car. Now to the price, the body style carries a bunch of weight and up dating the car is not all bad but do take note the rearend is 455, so high speed driving takes a tole on the drive train. Top speed was 84 MPH on a brand new one and I think this car was an 1800 with four speed on the column, not something you would want to have the expence to try and get back to original. All that said I would go to around $13 or $14,000. I see a few concours cars around the world and most are in the $30,000 range. Wayne

Looks like a late TR4 engine based on carbs, oil breather cap and valve cover vent tube. Wayne's comments remind me there is no substitute for experience in evaluating a car -- goodness know what he would find if he viewed it in person. Hope it goes for a price that will let the buyer enjoy the car.
