I've never been caught up in modern racing. Deprived childhood I guess! Today's 200mph nuclear powered spoiler finned razor blades are not my cup of tea.

But I found these two clips on TheOldMotor, and have to admit, I really enjoy them. Especially the interviews and aerial shots. Maybe there's hope for me yet.

Yeah, the old cars, though dangerous, were really wonderful and had a lot of <span style="font-style: italic">soul</span>.

One of the cars of this era that I'm familiar with is the Ardent Alligator. This car won the 1949 Watkins Glen Grand Prix.
It is currently owned by my friend, Peter McManus. Peter owns several nice cars including an Allard K1 that won the Amelia Island Concours Award for the Best Historical Race Car Still Actively Raced in 2011.

Here's where I'm lucky: I get to race the Alligator wheel to wheel these days. Pete generously keep running the old car in many of the northeast events that I attend. And, for some reason, my Spridget and Pete's historic racer are very even. It's an odd match of cars, but he and I have had many great battles. The Alligator passes me about 30 seconds into this video.
