waterpump to radiator hose quandry

why

So I gave in and bought new hoses and metal pipe from XKs Unlimited. Put hose onto water pump as far as it would go in, then got metal pipe pretty far in and at the bottom end the metal pipe extend past the fitting on the radiator leaving no room for the bottom hose. Called XKs cause I knew there were a variety of such metal piples for different years etc. and she just said these were hand made cars and each one is different so had to cut hose to fit, not sure how that will help if metal pipe exends past radiator fitting, other than lubricating the metal pipe and inserting all the way into upper house until it touches water pump and doing same on bottom end so metal pipe touches metal fitting on radiator, this just might work but seems nightmare of fitment and not what use to genericlly. Any thoughts?

Hah! The trick is that the rubber hose must be jammed as far onto the waterpump as possible and the metal pipe is then jammed as far into the hose as possible, just a bit less than a 1/4" from touching the water pump outlet. Now for the other end, first remove the horn. Then jam the hose for that end of the pipe all the way up onto the pipe so there is barely a 1/2" of hose not on the pipe.
Move lower hose over the radiator fitting opening and with a small screwdriver pry the hose onto the fitting, then slide the hose down over the fitting at least over its perhaps collagen injected lip. Then put clamps everywhere. All of this is only possible if the inside of the hoses has been sprayed with a lubricant. Weirdly I found an at least 30 year old can of good old liquid wrench and found a use for it coating inside of each hose. Oh yes, after placing and tightening all clamps put back the horn. New expansion tank should arrive in a day or two and on our way.

P.S. True or not, in no humor for comments how 2,3,6dichlorflourohexasomethingorother in liquid wrench will degrade rubber in hose unless I add........
