Water under the valve cover ?????

I pulled the valve cover off my TR4 and there is a small eyedropper full of milky white water collected at the back end of the block and some in the breather tube. I changed the oil at the end of the season and drove the car 20 miles before putting it away for the winter. I don't use a hose to wash the car and have not sprayed the motor. There is no evidence of water in the sump on the dipstick. The motor does have an intermittent miss which may be from droplets going through the carbs. Performance is very good though. Where is the water coming from? If a cracked head, is there a recommended sealer on the market to try?
 
Hows your crankcase ventilation? Water is a by product of combustion or simply condensation. If you have the Smiths "mushroom" you might to check its function. If you have an older engine with a draft tube the ventilation depends on movement down the road to pull fresh air and water condensation out of the engine. If you pulled the cover after it had been sitting for a while it may just be condensation, especially if the carbs and exhaust openings had not been sealed when you stored it.
 
My car is a 64 model near the end of the run of 4's. It does not have the crankcase tube and has a regular twist on valve cover cap so not ventilated there either. I hope you are right. I am concerned though with the amount of water there. I did not seal the carbs or exhaust openings when I stored it. Is that a recommended practice for winter storage?
 
I have a Sprite that does that every year when the weather gets cold. I never lose a drop of coolant, and quit worrying about it. When the weather warms up, it goes away.

Thanks Jeff, since your in Michigan and I'm in Northern Ohio, we share the same climate (Well, almost) so probably nothing to worry about. I'll get back to business, pulling for the Steelers !!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif Sorry, I did grow up near Pittsburgh.
