Water disappearing

I have a 1977 MGB that is losing water when I drive it. I can find no leaks when I park it or look at it when running. I am thinking possible head gasket or it is spraying out on the hot engine. Can someone give me some advise on how to find the cause of the disappearing water? If it is the head gasket is that a hard repair job?

when my Midget was losing water it took foreever to find it, Ended up being a pinhole leak in a radiator fin. It wasnt really noticeable when you looked for it. I didnt find it till i pulled the rad, out. Now if i could only figure out where my oil disappears to....

OK,
If you don't replace the one cup does it continue to keep going down? What I am getting at is that your cooling system is designed to have the expansion tank about half full when the engine is cold. If you top it up to more than half, when it gets hot it will just push the excess out of the overflow. This is normal.

On the other hand, if the level continues to go significantly below half with the engine cold there may be a problem.

head gasket isn't too bad, but you may have cracked a head. have your mechanic pressure test the system
