Washer Fluid Bottle Mount Removal?

Hey folks!

Bought a new mounting bracket for the washer fluid bottle, and while doing some other odds and ends on the car this afternoon, I decided to take the old one off, and put the new one on.

Low and behold, I find two of the three screw heads stripped! And with that little space, there really is no room to get in there with a drill to drill them out. Keep in mind... these are alan head screws, too. PO left them round on the inside! Oy!

Any suggestions?

Also, with the one that came out came another question... how do I get the plugs out that the screw goes into? I have new ones, and the ones there look in bad shape, so I figured I would replace those while I am at it.

Any clue on this one, as well?

Sear's sells screw removers for stripped phillips heads. Probably work great for allen heads too.
 
As I recall, those screws emerge on the firewall in the passenger footwell. You may be able to cut them off there and punch them through: there is certainly more space to get a drill or Dremel and tools in place.

The screw mounts in my 76 are as follows.
There is a flanged rubber sleeve with a threaded nut molded in it. The rubber sleeve is simply pushed into the holes in the fire wall. Then the screws are inserted through the holes in the bottle bracket and threaded into the nut in the rubber sleeves. As the screw is tightened it expands the diameter of the rubber to hold it in place, like a drywall mount.

If they do not come out it is probably because the rubber sleeve is turning in the hole. If they are just use a small plier or vise grip on the part inside the foot well to keep them from turning. In fact you may be able to hold them by hand. Or drill the heads of the screws off.

Thanks gents! Engine is now out, and I can get a drill to the screw heads now!

Tom, thanks for the part numbers! I actually already have the three screws/sleeve... just trying to figure out the best way to get the old ones out!
