Flash, a thyristor to control "automatic" output. This is a 'leftover' from the film era. "Kalimar" branding. No argument about the circular reflection in eyeballs, it has a disconcerting effect. The shot of Lucy I put in the gallery is much more to my liking. The girls were interested in what I was doing, so I stuck the rig in their faces for the above images. Lucy got really annoyed on about the third time I hit her with the flash. Ethel just went back to her food bowl.

Enough ambient light in the room that pupils were already half closed and the angle of the ring light was more than the 15~25Β° to their retina to catch red eye. The shot of Ethel almost got too close to the point where it would produce the effect. The "haze" is indication.

Yes, they are now "indoor cats" exclusively. They've mostly accepted it, not "rushing" the doors or attempting to escape through screened windows. Abundant food and water, two litter boxes, sleeping wherever they decide. Safe to live out their time. Are they spending most of their time in the house now? Have you been officially adopted?
Not going to allow them to become victims of the same savage ignorance Fred suffered. Won't go into the story here.

I'm glad you were able to provide an oasis for two of them.
Lysa is pretty content lounging on the front porch. She will venture out to eat some grass only when I'm outside. I assume the roll of danger assessments for her. When a dog comes down the sidewalk, I'll say PSSST! DOG and point in the direction the dog is. She'll look at my hand and turn to where I'm pointing. Then she'll trot back to the safety of the porch.

Endearing beasts are cats. I can't seem to be without 'em. Hadn't been a week since our dear manx Siamese passed, I swore "no more cats. Too hard to see them go." Then the trio of Lucy, Fred and Ethel came around abandoned and hungry. So in spite of myself, they got a home here.

I waited a whole 3 months from Mina passing 'til I got Lysa. I decided the years of love outweigh the grief. I still think back to Mina checking under my bedsheets to make sure there wasn't anything in there that would harm me. She would search and when she was satisfied, she'd look me in the face and give me an all clear chirp and come out.
