Hello

Now the paint is off the front fenders of my TR4 it has become apparent that these have been heavily accidient damaged and as a result I am on the search for a new pair. If anyone has a pair (or even one) that they would like to sell I would be extremely grateful...

Thanks

Myles

Those can be a hard find. You may have to piece a couple fenders together.
I'm guessing the damage is in the front, but if it is to the rear of the wheel arch, sections of a TR6 fender would be a much less expensive alternative.

How apparent was the damage BEFORE the paint came off?? Couldn't have been that bad if you didn't notice until the paint came off. Can you show us some pictures of the damage?? Maybe there are alternatives.

There are still body men out there that can do wonders with hammers and dollys. I've banged out a mess of dents myself on my TR3 fenders. A little lead, a skim of bondo, and good as new. Let's see how bad these are.

Here are some before and after pics. Damage doesn't show up so well unfortunately. Wheel arches are also mishapen although you can't see that too well in the photos. There is also a crease in the rear of one of the fenders too.

The left fender looks to be pretty simple to repair. The right hand fender flare is mis-shapen quite a bit. A good hammer and dolly guy could reshape those. That would be the hardest section to get right. Ask around your area to see who does hammer and dolly work on older cars and bring in the fenders and see what they say. If you're going to go with used fenders, I would just concentrate on the right (mis-shapen flare) one. That might be a toss-up on whether repair or another fender would be least costly. At the price of new fenders ($1400) it pays to check out alternatives.

Edit: another problem with used fenders, is that most of them are rotted on the bottom, and will need a repair panel welded in. In that instance, it pays to just repair what you have. So watch carefully for that.

I have a pair that is ready for top coat but they have rust repair panels where the most (but not all) of the rot was cut out and new metal welded in from behind.

They look good, are are more than fine for a driver, but are not concourse quality to be sure.

Hello, thanks for all your comments, I'll check out if I can get the left one repaired however in the meantime I'm still looking for at least the front right fender and probably the left also.

If anyone has one or both they would be willing to sell please let me know...

Thanks

Myles

Those outers appear to be in reusable shape, I do however have a pair of new inner fenders with new wheel arches attached, also a new front headlamp valance. These parts are in primer. Came off a 67 4A.
