It's been a while since I've seen Kevin Costner in a good movie, but McFarland is IMHO a great movie. Based on real events. Very inspirational kind of feel-good movie.

Almost makes up for Water World and The Postman…almost.

Don't forget 3000 Miles to Graceland and Dragonfly...

Well, I had forgotten until you mentioned them. Thanks. Thanks a heap! Costner has about a 2 for 8 record of decent movies to barfers. Open Range is another good one.

I did like Open Range. I thought he peaked in Silverado, looked like he was having a great time in that one.

I thought Draft Day was good.

And Dances With Wolves.

And Bull Durham.

And Tin Cup.

Bull Durham, yes, Tin Cup, ok, Dances With Wolves I have tried to watch and never been able to sit all the way through it. His first movie No Way Out from way back in the mid eighties is decent. I like The Postman, maybe I am the only one. Was thinking about renting McFarland, thanks for the tip.

So your the one! :highly_amused:

Dances with Wolves was a good movie, I agree with Mickey on that one, but IMHO it was too long! If I were to be sitting in a comfortable chair and tried to watch it again, there is no way I could stay awake!

Waterworld was pretty lame. Except for Jeanne Tripplehorn, of course.

I agree McFarland USA is a good movie. I can't believe Field of Dreams hasn't been mentioned, it is one of his better films. I also enjoy him in westerns; Open Range is probably his best but Silverado, Dance's With Wolves, and Wyatt Earp were all pretty good I thought. The Untouchables is also a fun film.

I'll agree with ya' on Untouchables (forgot about that one). I think Wyatt Earp paled to Tombstone though.

By a long shot! Another couple of Costner Movies that are decent are, in no particular order:

The Body Guard

The Guardian

Message in a Bottle (a chick flick, but still pretty good movie - Paul Newman plays the father of Costner's character).

No Way Out came after Silverado and The Untouchables. (He was in a handful of smaller movies too.)

As a bikie just coming down off a month long Tour de France binge, I have to say that American Flyers was his best film ever. (I may or may not change that once the endorphins wear off.)

Didn't believe it, but looked it up, you are correct, I know I saw No Way Out in a movie theater, I may have seen the other two later on HBO or DVD, don't make it right, but explains my faulty recollection. The Untouchables was one of his best.

Unforgiven is hands down the best modern western period. That said I think Open Range is every bit as good as Tombstone.

Good movie, but sad ending. I don't like movies with sad endings. PJ
