I took the Sprite out of the garage for the first time since January 1st to tweak the carbs. It turned out I wasn't too far off the mark when I put things back together. Front carb's mixture was just a tad lean, the rear carb was also lean and needed a the turn of a few flats of the mixture screw to even up. I used a carb synchronizer tool for the first time and that definitely helped me get the carbs synched up. I then dialed back the idle to just a smidge under 1000 RPM. I was going to check the timing, but I realized I didn't even have the faintest clue to what I was doing, so I thought I should do some homework first.

Now that the carbs are synched and the vacuum advance line is hooked back up, everything does seem to be in order. When I put it back in the garage (going up a slight incline), I was greeted by a very healthy sounding engine growl as I put it into gear.

Meanwhile...here she is in the driveway. Maybe by next week the snow will be gone and the roads clear of crap that I can take her out for a test drive.

such a pretty colour! I am very envious, mind you there is currently no room in the garage for my Midget - so in storage she stays for now.
 
Sax man I was introduced to Spridgets when my best friend Tony received a '68 Sprire in that exact same color as a HS graduation present. That car almost cause both of us the flunk out of Freshman year at Univ of Cincinnati. Bugsy I some 40 years later, also a. '68 Sprite, became my first Sprite in 1999.
 
Spring...Fehhh. :tongue: Frost heaves in the road are so big here that it'll be May before I even think about the wind in my beard.
 
That is a really pretty car, my favorite color for a Sprite/Midget, is that Basilica Blue? Coldest winter I can remember in a long time in the Midwest, made a list of things to do to the cars when it starts to warm up, can't wait.

I remember one of my best friends in college bought a new MGB in what looks like the same colour.
It was the first new British sports car I ever drove.

That was the story of the previous previous owner of the Sprite (Longbridge Healey was the p.o. I bought the car from). He was a university student up in Pennsylvania and his parents would send him money. He, in turn, put the money into the Sprite. When the parents found out, the jig was up and they made him sell the car, to which Longbridge Healey was the beneficiary of this turn of events, who, in turn, then sold it to me when his Bugeye emerged from restoration. I'd love to do a title search to see how many times this car changed hands in 45 years.

I always had a passing interest in LBCs, but it really was on a whim that I dove into LBC ownership. Now, I can't picture ever not having one.
