Our 3rd world power company "Flicker and Flash", we call
it) does not always have the power turned on. So we have
to be creative. Particularly when it comes to our (my)
coffee needs.

Emergency coffee brew:

Home Despot propane torch
Home Despot torch scratch ignitor
1 cup copper measuring pot filled with water
piece of paper towel
coffee mug
Handful of Puerto Rican, mountain grown, coffee grounds

Need I continue? Many a cup brewed this way.
Actually faster than Old Joe Di.

Day two:

"Mr Coffee" was designed by some team of "kitchen fashion" types. Inconvenient to add water to, it has HOLES in the vessel for a level control, it's got a HUGE 'footprint' and it's "lookie at ME white"...

I don't need to make a fashion statement in my kitchen, I just WANT COFFEE!!

I have a Tim Hortons coffee machine, has a hot water tank that is hot all the time so when you pour your cold water in it pushes the hot out and it takes less than 2 mins.

I went to a fire a few years ago (I'm a vlunteer-
- firefighter).Most of the contents in the living room were
turned to ashes.
Anyway,one of the nice neghbors brought us over a carafe
of coffee (Mr.Coffee).While digging through the debris,we
found a charred carafe (originally identicle).We returned
it to the neighbor - "Thanks for the coffee".They said
"You're welcome",with a slightly puzzled look on their face.

My dad was a real coffee slurper. Passed the genes on to me. My check-in ritual with him was always to call on Saturday mornings when we were both on about our second cup. When he died, he'd had a white plastic Sunbeam drip maker that he'd used a number of years. He always drank dark roast Union coffee and chicory, so that coffee maker was really "customized". I brought it home after he died and used it until it finally conked out.

Coffee at home doesn't take 'zackly the same since...
