A member of the church I serve is having to move to Florida, and has some stereo equipment she'd like to sell. There's a very nice Pioneer QX-747 receiver, a Pioneer PL-55 direct drive turntable, and an Akai 1721W reel to reel.

I've checked out the receiver, and it works fine. Cabinet is first rate; there is a bit of wear around the controls, and the controls could use a shot of tuner cleaner, as there is some static when they are turned/switched. Not uncommon and an easy fix. I need to buy a can for the receivers I have, and will shoot it when I do. The receiver has lots of power, and it's Pioneer's early quadraphonic offering. It's a massive unit - weighs 30-40 pounds. Overall, it's a very nice vintage piece and should give years of use.

Haven't checked the turntable yet, but should be OK. The dust cover is cracked at one of the hinges and taped up, but otherwise in nice shape.

The reel to reel works great, with the exception of the automatic shut-off when the tape runs out. It has a built-in amplifier and speakers, but can also be used as a deck. The sound quality on its own is not very good, but works very well as a deck. It has a wood cabinet, and a hinged, removable wood dust cover. Nice little unit, really.

I already have all the equipment I need; otherwise I'd buy it from her. If anyone has any interest, PM me and we'll talk.

That reel to reel would be nice. I don't have a place for it right now. When I was in high school I did some work at a radio station. we used a very high end reel to reel for all the production of ads and whatnot, then transferred it to "carts" which were like 8-track tapes with the little drive wheel taken out, and only a 30 second loop of tape in it.
The reel to reel was wonderfully easy to use splicing all kinds of sounds together. I really had a lot of fun doing that.
I'm sure it's all digital now.

Should have mentioned: If any of it sells here, I'll gladly post 10% myself to the BCF.

I want to sell/trade it for something.
I have a Pioneer SX 1280 receiver (65 lbs!)-
anyone know how the QX 747 compares to it?
