Went to pick up an LE MGB that I bought off e-bay...drove half the day to find out it had been totalled and frame was badly compressed on front drivers side...oh well..on the way home I bought a nice late 66 VW van(12 volt) and the next day a 77 VW poptop camper. paid $300 for each, and yesterday I got the 77 running. The f/i wires were connected to everything but the f/i. The elec. fridge works, propane tank was full and stove lit. Elec. pump on sink works, top tent portion is new and canvas. Interior although dirty is unstained and not torn. Has the regular battery and left side has the camper one(has built in charger) and fridge works both 12 and 120 volt. New tires tomorrow and paint picked up from PPG. I hope to trade this for a British car....hopefully a B...Told my wife we could sell our Calss A and use this...her sides still hurt from laughing.

VW Campers rule... Nothing wrong with a few non-British cars around here... There's even a spot in the members rides gallery for non-British vehicles [nudge, nudge, wink, wink]

I've been leaning on my wife to let me have a Westfailia for a while now. I've always wanted one.
My friend has a perfect condition late 70s one that's Chartruce and white (with orange canvas). I want it bad, but he wants $4k and I just can't do it right now....
I'd be in big trouble if I found one for under $500
Waddya say Jackq? I got this old Jag Saloon project. hehehehee.

I love trading...years ago I traded a car my wife was driving...she pulled into the driveway and a guy was waiting for it. I asked her if there was anything of hers in it...nooooo???..I handed him the keys and he was gone. Inside she said" If I had wheels you'd sell or trade me" I calmly walked into our (then) little girls room and got her roller skates..dropped them in front of the wife. I made sure I was between her and the kitchen where all the sharp objects were.:>...truthfully....I'm open to trades.

Well if I were a little more serious (not that that'd take much) and you weren't 3/4 of the way across the country....
Of course NM to NY in a questionable VW camper would be quite an oddysey...
like, wow man!
that sure beats one red paperclip...

When we lived in S.C. we had a 70 pop-top...drove it numerous times up to Cooperstown NY with two small kids. Then when we lived in England we had a 71 pop-top and toured all over in it. Kids were older but not much and e camped all over England, Scotland and Wales. I've considered making this bus look new and trek to Cooperstown in it and put it in the garage there...but if I drive it all the way there I'll probaly keep it. Yesterday a guy stopped by the shop as he saw the Westy sitting there and has made an offer to trade something...but I don't think I'm interested.

Cool. I'd love to bum around Great Britian in a pop top VW.. Heck! I'd love to bum around here in a pop top VW.. Some day... I WILL have one... really...It's a life goal..(sad huh? I told you guys I was wierd)

I never had the pop top but I bought for my son a '65 microbus in his college days that I can't say who enjoyed more. I really got a kick out of driving the thing when he was home. We immediately pulled the middle seat so he could use it for camping gear (and sleeping when necessary), and for hauling stuff to and from college. I may still pick one up some day.

Yesterday(tuesday) I finally found the time to tinker with the 77 poptop. Found the hard starting problem was a totally clogged cold start valve. Had a new one and now it pops right off. Today I have to prep a 93 Maxima I've had stashed in the back of the shop for a paint job but hope to finish the camper so I can advertise it.
