Plan's coming together!!

Congratulations... I'd offer to help out if you needed it.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

You could easily put your Peugeot in the back of my Peugeot. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

But you won't be needing that sort of help, will you... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif

Happy Vroooming....

That is too cool!! I have an old NSU quickly in a box (that is it's official name now - "The quickly in a box"). Perhaps now I will get inspired to sort the thing, instead of going out, looking at it, and then "quickly" putting it back in it's box!

Cheers!

Cool! and Congrats....looks like fun.

Hey, I got my 'free' electric scooter running today...must be a good day.

Interesting ride there... Looks like it would be very dificult to keep up with traffic on anything other than a residential side street though. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Thanks everyone!

Well the moped IS running, but now I have to figure out how to get the lighting to work. I replaced the old stock ignition with a newer electronic ignition and the wiring loom isn't quite the same. I got the lights to come on with some creative jury-rigging but they seem very weak. At this point that is the least of my worries though. It is such a relief to see that big FAT blue SPARK! It springs to life on the first kick every time, it accelerates well.... and I was starting to think this day would never come.

NEVER GIVE UP!!

There's probably a magneto coil in there (near beside or under the flywheel) for the lighting circuit... The lights will be very dim at idle, and might get a tad brighter at higher revs.

Lets see... once all the ignition wires are hooked up I am left with:
1 Blue wire and
1 Brown wire
that somehow need to hook up to:
2 Red wires
2 Black wires
1 White wire
1 Blue wire
1 Brown wire

I see lots of trial and error in my future! I could get the head light and tail light to come on dimly and then when I applied the brakes the brake light would come on very brightly. If I don't get it to a reasonable point I might start to consider some sort of rechargable battery pack. I was thinking some sort of external power source might be helpful just in tracing wires anyways.

Jack:

That is great and not what I expected.

I would suspect a test light or a voltmeter would be the way to go.

Patrick

I tried a voltmeter and couldn't get any voltage to register from either the blue or brown wires... maybe 2 or 3 TENTHS of A VOLT.

JACK

Yup, Nial: I thought the same thing when I saw the Peugeot. "Pit Bike!"
