I decided to go to the Williamsburg car meet last
weekend.I forgot to print up directions on how to get there.
I remembered that it's on highway 5,so it should be easy to
find.
Turns out that highway 5 splits off in a few places.
I finally gave up,& stopped at a fire station,where I was told
that it was about 6 miles South (near Jamestown).
I got there just after the show had ended, but there
were a few cars still there.Jim (Shinsen)was just leaving,but
stopped & gave me a poster for an upcoming show. There was also
the 100,000th MGA (the Gold one that was in Hemming's Sports &-
Exotic Cars magazine awhile back, brought in by Moss Motors.
On the way back to Suffolk (near Norfolk),I decided
to take the Jamestown ferry (free) back,so I could see an area that I haven't seen before.
I saw a Green Morgan being pushed up to the ferry landing.I walked up to the owner,& told him that it isn't good for our image. He laughed,& told me it wouldn't start. He checked the points, etc.,but still wouldn't start.I offered to
give him a ride back to his place to get his trailer.
It turns out that he (John Sheally II)has been around,& told me some interesting stories about cars & racing. He's a retired newspaper photographer,& has written a few books on Morgans,& has won many tropies racing & auto-
crossing them.
He showed be his collection - two racing Morgans,
a street Morgan,a Morgan 3 wheeler,& a totally cool '30's (2-
ton?)restored Chevy pickup tow rig. Before I left,he gave me on of the books that he's written about the Morgan Plus Four Plus.
I didn't expect any compensation for helping him out - I just thought that as British car owners,we help each other out when we can. That was one of the highlights of our trip.
