Vietnam Wall - This is Interesting

Nice resource. Thanks.
I've walked the wall once (in DC) but it's all by date of death (and otherwise difficult to easily find someone).

Sobering. Thanks, Doug.

We went to the Wall in 2012.A sobering experience.
Also visited the Colonel.Hard to believe he's been gone 11 years.
I couldn't find the pictures I took of his headstone.

Yes, a very sobering experience indeed. A very touching walk. Who'd have thought a monument so simple could be so effective.

I was (along with many others) really annoyed by some Asian tourists laughing/giggling and running about. Finally, a few other visitors told them to leave, and they did.

There are places in the US and around the World where Veteran's are held in great respect. It was not always true. I have not been to Washington but there is the South Wall 2/3 size in Pensacola FL. the register and parts vandalized. In Indiana there is a War Memorial. The sidewalks have markers that say THIS IS A PLACE THAT MARKS THE LOSS OF INDIANA VETERANS THAT GAVE IT ALL It is not a playground. I never herd a word spoken when I went to the Memorial in Hawaii. At FT Stewart in GA they plant a tree for each GI loss in combat. Family and brothers in arms leave items around the love ones tree.

For all those who have served and to all the one given to there last! GREAT THANKS For those who have never served you will truly never understand. Madflyer US ARMY Nam 1967-1968-1969

A co-worker and friend is named on the Wall, went down with a Jolly Green crew on the SAR mission to find BAT-21B. And the Bro-in-law of my best friend of fifty years still MIA/KIA. OV-10 jock outta NKP, downed "someplace" (likely Laos) in SEA.

It irks me that folks think the photo guys 'n gals "just take pictures". They are Aircrew Qualified, meaning jungle, arctic, desert and water survival training. E&E, parachute, ejection seat, altitude chamber and weapons as well. Now the DoD has put all under the "umbrella" of DINFOS. I envy and respect the "new kids" of Combat Camera.

While in DC I made it halfway down the wall looking at all the names of just youngsters, I had to stop and leave, couldn't take it any longer, too emotional for me. I will say this, that wall left me with an everlasting memory.

Took me two tries, I couldn’t go by it the first time. The second time a gentleman saw what was happening and walked through with us.

I've only seen the "traveling replicas" a couple times. Don't intend to see the real thing, the small ones were hard enough to look at.

Where ever and when ever one sees the WALL. The names are many but when you know the person on the WALL, be it from school or in your unit that is the story not on the wall. They will never be just names.
