I got a glowing reference on this parts and accessories source I didn't know about from a fellow BJ8 owner. They don't have an online catalogue but will send a paper one if ordered at www.victoriabritish.com. Anyone else have any experience with these guys, as to quality of parts, delivery, backup and so on?

Only 1 experience...it took over 15 days to ship me parts that were in stock, and the parts were marked incorrectly, sent them back over a month ago...still waiting for credit. I'll stick with Moss when I need parts.

i have just about every catalog out there and have found some major price differences from
dealer to dealer. my main problem seems to arise when i need to order a variety of parts and don't
want to pay the shipping from a bunch of different
places.i have had shipping problems with EVERYBODY. an order from england was supposed to ship for $80 and when i got the bill it was $160.
but it was something i needed and they said they'd
make it up to me.now i just make up a parts list and see where i can get the best price on ALL of it.

I buy allot of stuff from them but I have a local guy who is one of their dealers. Most of their stuff is decent quality

Hi,

Victoria British is fine if you know exactly what you want, exactly what you're getting, and have no technical questions. Name brand items are usually fine, but perform your own close inspection on generic parts, especially those shipped from the far east. VB is basically a parts house with non technical empoloyees taking orders for parts they have no clue about.

I do order from them on occasion, but if pricing is competitive, I prefer to support the small businesses that are owned by the people who know these cars inside and out because they actually own and drive them. As a result, you're not only supporting the quality manufacturers, but also the suppliers and the small businesses that help support our hobby.

Heard basically the same that they do not have a knowledgable staff. You have to know what you
want. They are a large company and the Healey section is just one part. Also sell Chevy parts for cars and trucks - maybe others.

I ordered one or two things and had no problems.

Victoria British is actually Long Motors. They do stock and price competive British Parts, not exclusively however. Better know what you want. I have used them on occasion due to their close proximity, Midwest, and can save on shipping. But it varies daily. I agree with "Ford Healey" that you're better off supporting the exclusive Healey dealers, only to keep them in business.
IMHO British Car Specialists is one of the best, not only do they stock new parts (mostly from Moss Motors) but can also locate good used parts as well. A real plus when doing a complete restoration. Shipping from the West coast can be expensive though.
Good Luck

Well I would like to add a few very good sources over on the East Coast: 1] Healey Surgeons 2] Sports and Classics and 3]Healey Haven most of which are top Healey restorers as well as excellent parts suppliers.-FWIW---Keoke

I agree with the value in buying through the small dealers who know the product. I have purchased about $33,000 worth of parts through British Car Specialists in the last 1-1/2 years and have been very happy (Yikes, I have not added it up before). Michael (parts manager) knows the products very well and can usually tell you how close to original the parts are. They also have had used parts available in some cases where new were not available. They are Moss and Kilmartin dealers, but also carry other rare hard to find parts and in some cases, more original parts. They offer a 10% discount to restorers when you make a large initial order.

By the way, I have no connection to them other than being a customer.

Better make sure you don't need a receipt when dealing with Healey Haven. I tried to get some history on my BJ8 that had been sold by them some years ago. The owners comment was "we don't keep records". Good job I'm not the IRS.
