Re: Victoria British: Borg n' Beck Clutch kit on s

Re: Victoria British: Borg n' Beck Clutch kit on s

Glad to hear you've got sense! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

...well, SOME sense: You ~DID~ buy a Li'l British Car! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Seriously: It ~sounds~ from here as if the hydraulics are the culprit. Take the time to analyze the book proceedure, look it over well and then dive in. Worst that can happen is ya gain intimate knowledge of how the hydraulic system works, it's renewed and you KNOW what it's NOT if the problem is still there. All good.

Just my 2¢ worth, but I'd replace the whole slave cylinder AND the rubber hose going to it. See how it goes from there.

Re: Victoria British: Borg n' Beck Clutch kit on s

No PM - & from what email address did you write me...can't identify you unless I know that...but, I've answered all my emails except one about some '74 parts

I was tryin' to sneak up on it... get it to "serviceable" to ascertain exactly WHAT the malfunction was. Them hoses are kinda stout, BTW.

I replaced the hose 6 years ago when the original one let go. (this is why i dont think this is a hydralic issue, there was the distinct feeling of mechanical failure)

I picked up a local clutch set up, slave cylinder, front tranny seal.

Does anyone know where i can get a clutch alignment tool, and a rear engine seal in or near sacramento, or the bay area?

thanks.

Re: Victoria British: Borg n' Beck Clutch kit on s

I am going to yank the engine this weekend (it needs to be done)

I talked to enough people, and everyone confirmed that the failure mode, and associated sensory inputs from the malfunction involve either the clutch, throw out bearing, etc.

Also while i am in there, i am going to replace the rear mainseal...anyone got one in Sacto...(i am tired of the oil leak down the back of the engine and the underside of the car.

Moss or Vic.Brit. will have an alignment tool. Tony might have one also. Thier about the cheapest tool you can buy and the one you want to use the least. PJ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif
